Rising Stars School Programme

Presently in the school environment there is a distinct lack of opportunity for children to engage in an individual life long sport. LDgolf's rising stars schools program changes all this.

The programme aims to give a fun introduction to the game, using modified equipment, games and activities, suitable to both indoor and outdoor use in a fun, safe manner. The emphasis of the instruction is "simplicity" with the focus being on propreceptive, visual and auditory feedback with specific word cues to ensure maximum results with minimum instruction.

Liam has used his holistic approach to the game, honed in over a decade working in the area of junior golf development, to develop a detailed curriculum that encompasses everything that is good about the game of golf including:

Motor skills- an introduction to the basic skills of the game including putting, chipping, pitching & full swing.
Core life skills- We take a deeper look at life skills such as honesty, integrity & respect & their role in life as well as the game of golf.
Physical intelligence- Emphasis on the development of fundamental movement skills.
Emotional intelligence- Development of golf specific coping strategies that can be implemented in facing issues in everyday life.
Cognitive awareness- Using guided discovery tasks to face and overcome specific golf related tasks.
Cross curricular activities- Incorporating age specific lesson plans that help target areas such as numeracy skills, spatial awareness, etc.

In a school environment, this offers the opportunity for the development of a curriculum that reflects the schools needs. With a background in education and as a P.G.A. advanced Golf Professional with qualifications in the area of sport psychology and golf specific fitness, Liam is the ideal person to develop your own personalised school based program.

Over the past two years LDgolf has been in over 40 schools in West Limerick, Cork & North Kerry and has demonstrated the game to some 10, 000 children in this time as well as at international events such as the Irish Open & Solheim Cup.

Liam had an easy, warm manner with the children and his approach was friendly but firm. He had plenty of resources for all children and there was no waiting around or possibility of getting bored! Children have described their experience as 'fun', 'cool' and of 'learning loads'. They enjoyed scoring and hitting targets and improved their golfing interest and ability.
